Featured Customer: Kamehameha Schools and Sustainability

As a role model to the community and valued customer of Suisan, Kamehameha Schools takes strong leadership in sustainability and zero-waste initiatives. By helping move the Island to a self-sufficient environment, the schools are implementing recycling programs, paperless communication strategies and partnerships with local farmers.

More than 25 green practices were developed for the schools at the Committee’s annual retreat last year, designating them as a “Green Event” designation by the Hawaiʻi Green Business Program, supported by the State Department of Economic Development and Tourism, the State Department of Health, and the Honolulu Board of Water Supply.
